About Noah's Sketchbook

Artists have often looked to the natural world for inspiration. In this class, students will follow in that tradition by working on observational and imaginative drawings of animals in their sketchbooks.

The goal of this class is to foster appreciation of art and animals while advancing observation and representation skills in many medias. Every student will be challenged based on his or her initial ability.

In addition to improving drawing skills, there will be interactive lectures so students can learn more about art history as it reflects on the amazing world of animals. The class will culminate in an optional afternoon trip to the Houston Zoo and a painting of an animal photographed there.
